Big Sister Program Take Two!

We are going to again try the Big sister program with the collegiate members.  As many of you know, the collegiate turnout this past year was not great.  In this program, we try to pair a current McHenry County Alumni member with a McHenry County Tri-Delta collegiate. The Alumnus acts as a big sister to the collegiate by sending friendly gestures throughout the year.  Once I have contacted the collegiates and find out who is interested in participating, I will ask for volunteers to be big sisters.  I hope you will consider being a part of this program.

University of Wisconsin-Mu Chapter

Our congratulations go to the Tri Delta collegiates at the University of Wisconsin for all of their successes in restarting their chapter this year.  The Mu Chapter at the University of Wisconsin received a $500 donation from our alumnae group.  The Mu Chapter is going to use the funds for their production of Humorology.  This is an event that they auditioned for and were selected to perform.  They have not made the cut for over 20 years.  This event also benefits Camp Hartland, a camp for children born with Aides. 

Scholarships Awarded

Two scholarship receipients were so closely matched in academics, activities and career goals that they both received $200 each.  Congratulations to Meghan Holly at the University of Denver, Colorado and to Kelli Sibigtroth at Millikin University.

Collegiate News

Collegiate Happenings for 2006 - 2007

Care packages were sent out this past spring to our local collegian's.  The scholarship deadline for 2006 was moved back to August 18th due to a decreased response.  The lack of interest in our scholarship program has been noted over the last three years.  Due to this we have made some exciting changes to maintain our connection with collegian's and continue to support our local collegiates.  This is the last year for the collegiate scholarships in its current form.  We have been witness to collegiate chapters struggling to maintain their charter.  Hence, Jamie Crandall, our Collegiate Relations Chairwomen and a committee will select one of our collegiate chapters to be the recipient of $500. 

To maintain our connection with our local Tri Delta Collegian's note cards and care packages will be sent to them throughout the coming school year.  Additionally, a new activity for the collegian's is underway for an Alumnae/ Collegiate mixer in June 2007.   

If anyone is interested in being on the committee for chosing the chapter to be given the financial donation, please let me know.

Kristin's Story

The Alpha Chi Omega chapter at Carthage College in Wisconsin is hosting Andrea Cooper in the sharing in Kristin's Story.  In 2000, Tri Delta and Alpha Chi Omega, partnered with Andrea Cooper and the world renowned Santa Monica Rape Treatment Center in California.  The Alpha Chi Omega Foundation and Delta Delta Delta Foundation each give 10 grants per year allowing 20 universities to host Kristin's Story on their campus.  Carthage College is one of the recipients this year.  Since we are in the neighboring area the women of the Alpha Chi Omega chapter would like to invite us to come listne to Andrea Cooper speak on October 4th 2006 at Carthage College.

Scholarships Awarded

We awarded two scholarships to two of our local collegiates.  Carrie Sroka who is attending the University of Illinois received the $250 scholarship.  Jessica Pettit who is attending the University of Colorado, Boulder received the $150 scholarship.
